Construction in Village/Plaza Park is being delayed while we wait for the Fair Oaks Water District (FOWD) to sign off on the waterline relocation plans. FOWD has some new comments that we received two days before the bid opening that needs to be added to the Construction Documents and those changes will require us to resubmit our plans to Sacramento Metro Fire to get their approval for the revised plans. The comments from FOWD are mainly about new backflow locations, fire hydrant locations, and Bollards around the Fire Hydrants. Throughout this entire time, we have had numerous delays and additional reviews primarily related to all of our Design work occurring during COVID. I know that FOWD is working on this as fast as they can since they do understand the importance of this project.
Right now I believe the worse thing we could do is fence off the entire park and not have any construction occur so I have delayed the installation of the Construction Fencing so the Park will still be open for the public to enjoy. If everything goes well with the review from FOWD and Sacramento Metro Fire we should have fences up late next week.
In the meanwhile, we will hold a Pre-Construction meeting with our General Contractor late this week or early next week so we can discuss the construction process and review some of the challenges with the fencing and parking. Just like you, I am frustrated with this delay but I believe we are moving forward as fast as possible.
My thanks to Mike Aho for this update!
