We need your input!
FOVEC is partnering with the Chamber to see if there is support for a new sign at the corner of Sunrise and Fair Oaks Blvd. Our goal is to replace the existing Fair Oaks Village sign with a more prominent and dynamic sign that would better represent our historic old village and could be used to promote village events.
This photo shows an example of what such a sign might look like.
These are examples of different designs we might select from.
Our questions are:
do you agree this is a good idea?
and which design do you like best?
Please use the comment section below to let us know your thought!
Great options! As we are surrounded by river rock, a structure of that material would be appropriate and pleasing! Somehow, incorporating a welcome to old Fair Oaks sign, with an electronic component to keep us informed of upcoming events would be my preference! Thanks for allowing me to contribute!
More potential design concepts. Perhaps they will stir some creative juices.. excited about the idea… Terrie ODonnell

We (Biker Bar) feel a new sign is definitely needed, but is there any way the businesses could get some representation? We need visitors to have an easier time finding us and knowing we are here. Signage from Sunrise sending people back to the village would be great. Something like below but more rustic and smaller placards?
Special thanks to Bob Sours, President of the Fair Oaks Historical Society, who forwarded my question about a new sign to his board for comments. Most of their feedback was that a new sign would be good, but they didn't like the examples and didn't think an electronic sign fit the village's character.
One of their members, Carolyn Spotts, was kind enough to find a couple of examples she thought would be better. I have shared the images below, along with her comments, for your consideration.
If you are looking to replace the sign for the Village, I think something like this would be nice
(Obviously it would be customized for Fair Oaks):
If you are looking to post information for events, I think something ‘old-school’ fits the Village style
better than an electronic sign. Something like this:
I like the idea and like both the high school sign and the Sarasota sign.
If the attempt is to capture the historic village ‘feel,’ then the sign should be more rustic or antique in appearance, not a modern neon sign!
